Panthers QB Matt Moore started the final five games of last season. One of those games came against the Giants on the road, the same scenario he will face to kick off the regular season in Week 1. In a Week 16 matchup against the Giants last season, Moore completed 15 of 20 passes for 171 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions in a 41-9 drubbing of the Giants. That game was the final regular season game played by the Giants at the old Giants Stadium. This game will mark the first regular season game played by the Giants at the new Meadowlands Stadium.

Redskins WR Joey Galloway is listed as a starter on the depth chart, but he hardly made any sort of impact this preseason, catching three passes for 29 yards. At age 38, he's out to prove something Week 1 against the Cowboys, his team from 2000 to 2003. “He’s a guy that we all know back in the day made a name for himself. Heading into Week 1 Green Bay QB Aaron Rodgers said he's been impressed with Philadelphia's defense. "They fly to the ball, they tackle," he said. "It's going to be important for us to hold on to the football. Early in the season, there's often mistakes you might not see later in the season." Rodgers is starting his third year at the helm of the Packers, and is coming off a season where he passed for 4,434 yards and 30 touchdowns. Both Greg Jennings and Donald Driver posted more than 1,000 yards receiving in 2009, and TE Jermichael Finley is expected to play a larger role in the offense. "Jermichael has all the tools but the routes ... the routes can make him special. The proper depth on his routes, the sharpness of his cuts – those are some things he struggled with last year. If he dials all that in this season, he's going to be a huge weapon for us," Rodgers told The Dallas Morning News.

Redskins WR Anthony Armstrong has yet to catch a pass in a regular-season game, but based on his performance this preseason, he may be the closest thing the Redskins have to a No. 2 wide receiver. He emerged as a deep-ball threat in the second game of the preseason, connecting on a 45-yard strike with Donovan McNabb against the Ravens on Aug. 21 “I think we’ve come together well,” Armstrong told CSNwashington.com. “The coaches have pretty good confidence in us and if people want to doubt us, that’s fine.”

Despite being limited in practice all week, Saints LB Jonathan Vilma (groin) was listed as probable for Thursday's season opener against the Vikings. Vilma totaled five tackles, one interception, three pass defenses, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in the NFC Championship game against Minnesota last season.

Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams was not active for last season's Week 16 game at the Giants due to an ankle injury. In that game, Jonathan Stewart rushed for a franchise record 209 yards. Williams, however, did manage four touchdowns and 108 yards on 24 carries against the Giants the previous season. Both games were also on the road.

Saints WR Marques Colston (kidney) is expected to start in Thursday's opener against the Vikings. Colston is listed as probable on the injury report after practicing in full all week. Colston, who posted his third 1,000-yard season in 2009, was held in check in the NFC title game last season against Minnesota, recording just two catches for 22 yards before hauling in seven catches for 83 yards in the Super Bowl.

The Saints have ruled out RB Chris Ivory (knee) for Week 1 vs. Minnesota. Ivory sustained an MCL injury during the final preseason game vs. Tennessee and could miss up to three weeks.

Redskins WR Devin Thomas, who had just 25 catches for 325 yards in 2009 even though he spent much of the year as the team's No. 2 WR, will enter the 2010 season lower on the depth chart. He will likely return kicks Week 1 against the Cowboys, but his role on offense is less certain. "Going in, he's not slated to do as much because of the group we've got going," offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan said.

Vikings CB Cedric Griffin (knee) is listed as questionable on the injury report for Thursday's game at New Orleans. Coach Brad Childress says he is "toying" with the idea of having Griffin play even though he is less than eight months removed ACL surgery.

This is not how Vikings rookie RB Toby Gerhart envisioned his NFL career beginning. The former Stanford star is listed as questionable for Week 1 against the Saints because of a knee injury. Gerhart has been limited in practice all week. If Gerhart is unavailable on Thursday, then Albert Young is expected to pull primary backup duties to Adrian Peterson.

Redskins TE Fred Davis, who averaged 4.4 catches and 48.5 yards with six touchdowns in place of the injured Chris Cooley over the final 10 games last year, will go back to a reserve role Week 1 against the Cowboys. Davis caught four passes for 60 yards this preseason.

Vikings QB Brett Favre (ankle) is ready to go for his rematch with the Saints. The veteran quarterback, who is coming off offseason ankle surgery, is listed as probable for Week 1 against the Saints. Favre looks to avenge an NFC Championship game loss to New Orleans. He went 28 of 46 for 310 yards against New Orleans in the playoffs last season, but he threw one touchdown and two interceptions. However, in five regular-season games against New Orleans, Favre has completed 118 of 188 passes for 1,283 yards, 13 touchdowns and two interceptions.

Redskins TE Chris Cooley, who missed the final nine games of 2009 with a broken ankle, looked good this preseason, catching six passes for 74 yards in three games, and opens the 2010 season against a familiar foe. In 10 games against the Cowboys, Cooley has five touchdown grabs, tied for the most against any foe, and 41 catches for 432 yards. Of course, he also has a new quarterback in Donovan McNabb, who is still learning the offense after missing time this preseason with an ankle injury.
